  1. This was a nice dinner for a cold summer's evening! I made in the slow cooker, and omitted the stock, instead just adding some powdered stock. I also added garlic and thyme as suggested by JustJanS, I think the thyme really added to the flavour. I also found it needed another tablespoon of tomato paste to suit our tastes. Served over mashed potatos, yum!

  2. This was a hit with my boyfriend. I put this in a slow cooker after browning the meat and let it go for about 4.5 hours. I also just used a Busch Light beer since that is all I had. I added 3 cloves of garlic and added no yolk egg noodles at the end which soaked up alot of the liquid and also used about 1 tsp of cornstarch to thicken the sauce. My boyfriend said to keep this recipe!

  3. Oh, we loved this. I made it Sunday afternoon and put it in the fridge for Monday night dinner. I served it over Kielke Recipe #60149 and it was so so so good. I used Amstel Light beer (left over from my wedding in October). Not sure if it makes a difference or not. This is a keeper. I plan to do alot of cooking and freezing over the holiday long weekend and this one of the recipes I am going to use. Thanks for a wonderful and easy meal.

  4. We had this for dinner tonight- it was great on a cold night. I felt the beer was a bit too dominant, (I used a low alcohol lager) and would increase the sugar next time to maybe two tablespoons, and add some garlic and thyme.

  5. Truly a keeper !! This has the most wonderful taste you can imagine. Slightly reminded me of Flemish Beef.
