We really enjoyed this and it's a nice dish that would go well along with so many different mains. One thing I will change next time is I thought the very top layer with twice the quantity of crumbs as cheese had a bit too much of a 'toasted' flavour on top, my oven has baking elements both on the top and bottom that may not have helped in that regard. I think next time I'll cut the mixuture to about 1 1/2 cup breadcrumbs and 3/4 cup of mozzarella, and then for the last layer place a very small sprinking of breadcrumbs over the top followed by enough mozzarella to cover it.

I have been looking forward to trying this recipe for weeks and was very disapointed. For starters, I did follow the recipe exactly. The potatoes were still raw after an hour which I didnt find out til it was already out of the pan. So I microwaved them until they were cooked.
The appearance of the potatoes (pre-microwave) is very unappetizing. They are brown and just look nasty. The dish was horribly bland. I will not try this one again.

After reading the other reviews I decided to cut the breadcrumbs in half, and that worked great for us. I also had a little cheddar cheese leftover to and added it to the mozz. cheese, loved the taste of this. Nice easy, quick meal. Made for Auz/nz swap #33

Made this to serve with meatloaf. Hubby took his meatloaf sandwich to work and a side dish of this. You're right it is delicious hot or cold. Thanks for sharing

After reading the other reviews, I only used about half of the breadcrumbs, which was plenty for our tastes. We really enjoyed the flavors of this dish. Made for A/NZ Recipe Swap #16.

I scaled this back to 5 potatoes (650 grams) which as a side fed 4 with enough left over for another serve. Wish I had taken advice of other reviewers and scaled the bread crumbs back (1 1/4 to 3/4 cup maybe and upped the cheese from 5/8 to 1 cup) and maybe sprinkled more cheese on top but it was easy to assemble and make. Thank you Stardustannie for a recipe I will try again but with a bit of variation. Made for Edition 3 - Make My recipe - a game of tag.

I thought this had a great flavor. I took the advice of the other reviewers and decreased the bread crumbs but didn't reduce the cheese. I also used Longhorn cheese instead of mozzarella. I will make this again but I won't make it in the springform pan because as the oils drains out it makes a mess in the oven. FYI 180c is 356f.

I found the breadcrumb quantity to be a bit much for my taste. I ended up with leftover breadcrumb mix, and still would use less next time, as the flavour from the crumbs was too strong. Other than this a nice recipe, certainly good looking when finished, the layers came out extremely well.
