This recipe comes from the back of the rice bubbles box. I prefer it without the chocolate on top. Very Yummy
- Melt margarine,honey& pre-cut mars bars in microwave safe dish in microwave for about 1 min 30 on 100%.
- Stir occasionally.
- Add rice bubbles and press into lamington tray.
- Melt chocolate and pour over the top.
- Refrigerate until chocolate sets.
- When chocolate sets cut into small squares.
This is yummylicious! I have been wanting to make this for ages ever since you've posted this recipe. Finally, I made this today using Galaxy smooth and creamy milk chocolate which happens to be my FAVOURITE of all the chocolates on the shelf. I used 6 bars of Galaxy chocolate, each of 40 gms., so I got 240gms. of Galaxy chocolate for this recipe which is about the equivalent of the Mars bar weights. I did not know initially when you had posted this recipe what 'rice bubbles' really meant, but after asking on the Cooking Q & A Board, I got help from a few people who told me that rice bubbles means the same thing as 'rice krispies'. We get it by the name of rice krispies in Oman(which is where I live at present). Knowing that I got it easily from the supermarket and I thought I should mention this in my review so it would be helpful for those who wish to try this recipe in future. I melted my Van Houten baking chocolate in the microwave oven on HIGH power level for 2 minutes. Instead of making this treat in a tray, I melted the baking chocolate and then mixed it in a large bowl along with the other ingredients, viz., the melted Galaxy chocolate mixture and Rice Krispies. Then, I applied a little margarine on my palms and mixed this delicious mixture extremely well. Following this, I shaped this into balls and set them beautifully on a silver tray. I got 18 balls out of the mixture(about the size of 36 small cookies). My house smelt simply sinfully delicious while the chocolate was melting in my oven! Thank you for such a wonderful treat and a perfect food gift. Thanks again with all my heart!
I have been making this for ages but I don't put the chocolate on the top. Just be sure to bring it to room temp before trying to cut it and get it out of the pan because if it's very cold it just cracks and goes everywhere.
This is truly the best stuff in the world!!
