Mum's French Onion Lamb Chops

"This is a recipe that my mum made for us a lot when we were kids - as did her mum when she was little! I finally got around to actually measuring them the last time I made it. LOL Feel free to play around with the quantities, I used Forequarter lamb chops, depending on what cut of chop you use you may want more or less of them. Although this uses salt reduced french onion soup mix, it still has a quite concentrated flavour. By all means you can cut it down to 1 packet, or 1 1/2 packets. Just keep in mind the gravy will be considerably thinner. You definitely want to serve this yummy dish with potato mash."

  1. I actually made these a while ago & have made many times. I didn't know you had posted this on here. This dish is easy, tasty & always makes me smile. Especially good during cold weather. I usually serve it with some sort of potato dish, rice, grain or some warm bread, along with a green vegetable. It always disappears! I think Mum would be proud that we continue to make this dish in her honour xoxo

  2. This is delicious. I used 1 kilo of Y-bone steak and put it into a 140C oven for about 2 hours. Used two packets of 'Maggi' onion soup mix. It was gobbled down by everyone. Thanks for sharing Sarah!

  3. Delicious and easy peasy, I only used 1 packet of onion soup and added just a little more water, the result still made enough gravy for the 6 chops. We are low carbing and I made faux tatoes in place of the real thing. Very yummy.
