Strawberries & Cream Oatmeal (Porridge)

I made this for breakfast this morning using Vanilla Coffee Creamer as the creamer, quite a yummy combo I thought.

• Total Time: 3 mins
• Prep Time: 1 mins
• Cook Time: 2 mins

Ingredients:

Servings: 1

• 1⁄3; cup quick-cooking oat
• ½ cup water
• 2 teaspoons French vanilla flavored coffee creamer (powdered)
• 3 large strawberries , diced
• vanilla yogurt , to serve

Directions:

1. Combine water, oats & creamer.
2. Microwace for 1 minute and then stir to combine.
3. If you want your srawberries warmed through add them now and cook for a further 30 seconds.
4. Serve with strawberries (if you didn't already add them) & vanilla yoghurt.

Somehow, I have an entire can of coffee creamer... I don't even drink coffee!! So I set out to find recipes that called for pwodered creamer. I used old-fashioned oats, so I increased the cooking time a bit; and thawed frozen strawberries. Maybe it's because it wasn't French vanilla flavored, but I didn't notice that the creamer made this taste any different that regular oatmeal. It was still good, it just didn't CHANGE it any. I microwaved two strawberries too in step three, and sprinkled the third over that, but then decided it needed more sweetness so I added a couple of packets of Splenda, mixed it all up, and microwaved it for another twenty seconds. I didn't bother with the yogurt, either. Thanks for posting!

Great breakfast! I only had old-fashioned oats so cooked a couple minutes longer. I added the strawberries after cooking and also added a little sugar. I served with a little lowfat milk and really enjoyed - thanks for sharing the recipe!

Made for Aus/NZ ~ Make My Recipe Edition 7. This was excellent oatmeal. I didn't have fresh strawberries (they didn't look very good for the price they wanted) so I used dried strawberries that I had and this turned out great. I also added 1 T of ground flax seed after the oatmeal was cooked to boost the nutrition. I will definitely make this again. Thanks for posting this Mandy.
